FNB Student Advisory Board
Applications for 2024-25
Current 11th grade students may apply.
Applications are due to Mrs. Yearwood by May 2nd.
Applications and details have been given to students and are available for download in the Class of 2025 Google Classroom.
Participants who are chosen: leaders among their peers, give their all in the classroom, have a good attendance record, be responsible, respectful, and committed. Chosen participants will be notified by the end of the school year and First National contacts them in June.
Youth Leadership

2024 SPECIAL* Summer Driver's Education Opportunity
with Cullman County Schools
Participating students must be at least 15 years old with a valid driving permit.
*West Point is offering special pricing for CCS students! Our students can take the class for the same price as their students, $150. If you participate, PLEASE be sure to thank them for this discount! ($200-Any Other School District/Private School/Homeschool)
Class Registration will close June 10, 2024.

Spring Standardized Testing
All CCS students in grades 7-11 will participate.
Test Date: Tuesday, April 9, 2024
Grades 7, 8, and 9 will take the PreACT.
Grades 10 and 11 will take the ACT.
Spiritual Emphasis Week
February 5-9, 2024
Homecoming Week 2024
Homecoming Week will be January 22-26.
Classes will compete for the spirit cup.
Tools of the Trade Career Technical Event
Cullman Economic Development and Wallace State Community College will be hosting an interactive career technical event on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
8th Grade Students Will Attend
Bus will leave from the DC campus at 9:15 and return around 2:00.
FREE College Application Week
Students in Alabama can apply to several colleges the third week of October with no application fees.
Alabama College Application Week 2023 runs from Monday, October 16 through October 20.
Seniors will work on applications with Mrs. Yearwood during elective class periods.
Capstone Leadership Academy Opportunity
10th Grade Students
CCS will nominate 3 students to apply. These three applicants will be chosen based on their submitted essay. Details are located for students in their grade level Google Classroom.

Students in grades 9-11 may participate by registering with Mrs. Yearwood. The cost for 9-11 is $68. [limited seats available]
PSAT/NMSQT

Juniors and Sophomores
CCS Juniors and Sophomores will be taking the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test on Friday, October 27th. This exam is now a digital only exam. We will be using a computer lab at Wallace State CC.

9th Grade Students
October 17 and 19, 2023
Students will participate in a budgeting program that includes career exploration and real world scenarios. This program is facilitated by the Cullman Economic Development office.

Students must register with Mrs. Yearwood in advance to participate.
The cost is $60.
ALACRAO College Fair
11th and 12th Grade Students
Monday, September 18, 2023
Students will travel by bus from CCS to Wallace State.
Our time slot will be from 9:45-10:45 AM.
At the fair students will visit with college representatives to learn more about admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, and programs of study.
Students may bring money for lunch.

We will be attending the Wallace State Career Showcase on Tuesday, March 14th.
All 10th Grade (including homeschool coop)
Lunch will be provided.

Spring FREE College Application Week
February 20-24, 2023
SENIORS: If you haven't applied yet, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!
Multiple colleges in Alabama will be waiving application fees between February 20-24. This FREE application week is a great opportunity for you to apply to multiple colleges without the expense of fees.
Mrs. Yearwood will be available all week to help you with your applications.
ACT with Writing
All CCS Juniors and Sophomores
Tuesday, March 7th
All CCS Juniors and Sophomores (including Fast Track and homeschool coop students) on Tuesday, March 7th.
Testing will begin at 8:00 AM and will last through lunch.
Students need to bring a calculator, #2 pencils and a snack.
UNA Campus Visit for CCS Juniors and Seniors
Monday, November 14th
Mrs. Yearwood will be taking CCS Juniors and Seniors for a campus visit at the University of North Alabama on Monday, November 14th. Students participating must have a signed permission form. (Forms will be sent home in October.)
This trip will be during the normal school day hours.
During the visit an admissions counselor will talk to students about UNA admission and scholarship opportunities. Students will also be touring the campus. It is a walking tour so students will want to wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing!
Career Fair at Wallace State Community College
Thursday, November 3rd
8th Grade Students
CCS 8th grade students will be attending the Career Fair at Wallace State Community College on Thursday, November 3rd. Students participating must have a signed permission form. (Forms will be sent home in October.)
This trip will be during the normal school day hours. Lunch will be provided.
Keeping It Real
October 25th and 27th
9th and 10th Grade Students
Cullman Area Workforce Solutions (CAWS) will be providing a real-world career and budgeting lesson for 9th and 10th grade students on October 25th and 27th. The lesson includes learning more about available careers, potential salaries, necessary training/education, and students will also participate in a budgeting activity.
The Keeping It Real program will take place in Mrs. Robertson's class.
FREE College Application Week
October 17-21
Colleges in Alabama will be waiving application fees between October 17-21. This FREE application week is a great opportunity for seniors to apply to multiple colleges without the expense of fees.
Mrs. Yearwood will be working with CCS Seniors as they apply to prospective schools.

Chick-fil-A Leader Academy
Kick Off and Book Packing
CCS Juniors and Seniors will be participating in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy this year! This is a great opportunity for our students.
Our kick off activity and first service project will begin on October 4th. Students will be packaging books for the 1 Million Book Giveaway and discussing other projects they would like to do this year.
Book Fair Week is September 26th-30th.
"Fall in Love with Reading"
Don't miss out on a chance to dress up as we celebrate our love for reading. Dress up days are as follows.
Monday - PJ Day
Tuesday - Crazy Sock and Hat Day
Wednesday - Team Day (Wear College Football or Favorite Team Gear)
Thursday - Farmer Day (Wear jeans, overalls, plaid, etc.)
Friday - CCS Spirit Day
Covenant College Follow Up: On Thursday, September 1st, Juniors and Seniors were visited by an admissions counselor from Covenant College. During this visit students learned more about their degree programs, student life, housing, scholarships, and emphasis on Christian faith. Follow up contact information and SneakPEAK days is posted in the students' Google classroom.
UPCOMING EVENT: On Monday, September 19th from 5:30-7:00 PM, Wallace State CC will be hosting the annual ALACRAO College Fair. At the fair students and parents can visit with college representatives to learn more about admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, and programs of study. The event is free and open to the public.
*Note: This is not a school event. Parents are encouraged to attend with their student.
UPCOMING EVENT: Tuesday, August 30th - An admissions counselor from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) will be on campus during ACT Prep class to talk to Juniors and Seniors about the programs they offer, admission requirements, and scholarship opportunities.
