Drive sales and a differentiated experience by providing enriching customer interactions, and providing elevated design offerings in the store, in-home and virtually with customers.

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer I (Entry-level) to join the EWS Wiremold Team in West Hartford, CT. Design and develop product solutions to meet all customer requirements.
What Will You Do?
Performs design and development on existing and custom engineered products used in electro-mechanical products. Direction is based upon marketing and purchasing input, both individually or under direction of more senior level design engineers. Develop or modify product specifications in accordance to customer requirements.
Identify and validate appropriate codes and agency standards and testing requirements, conduct testing and document results.
Create sketches, 3D files and prototype designs to provide different options that are used to satisfy the product requirements. Then evaluate these concepts to choose the best design for Wiremold. Create final 3D models, assemblies, and drawings to refine, develop and finalize the design.
Interface and direct offshore design teams through the product development cycle. To include product concept, design, documentation and production as need.
Refine and complete the design through modeling, prototyping, testing, analysis, piloting, and inspection of processes and first articles. Work closely with Advanced Manufacturing, Tool Shops and Manufacturing to procure prototype and production product components.
Complete product documentation to support production, including engineering drawings and specifications, bills of materials, quality requirements and testing.
Managing projects to rapid and effective completion including spanning departmental gaps.
Performs other similar and related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education: 4 - years technical degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: 1 - 3 years’ engineering experience is required, design experience preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Understanding engineering concepts, materials and manufacturing processes. Must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to practical problems.
Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively. Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software. SolidWorks preferred.
Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment. Fosters open communication and support an environment of innovation and creative change.
Demonstrated creativity in the development of new product design concepts. Ability to create sketches, 3D files and prototype designs to express all the different options that are used to satisfy the product requirements. Good hands-on skills for creating prototypes to express design concepts.

Job Description:
Provide escalator feasibility reviews for modernization estimates.
Responsible for interpreting bid specs and responding to field questions in an effective & timely manner
Knowledge of code requirements to perform escalator design and drafting for project execution.
Facilitate ordering and shipping of executed project materials.
Responsibility to identify & resolve technical issues in the design and implementation of escalator and hydraulic elevator projects.
Work closely with senior engineers to ensure that the business objectives are implemented and achieved.
Reviewing and placing orders for hydraulic elevator power unit replacements.
Experience/Qualifications
3+ years of engineering and project management experience.
Demonstrated analytical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and communication skills.
