For this week in MDET we went over dimensioning symbols, Datum features symbols, geometric characteristic symbols, Material Condition and Material Boundary Symbols, and feature control frame and we also did some practices and a Quiz
This week, I continued my work-based learning experience at Transer Enterprise, where I’ve been gaining hands-on experience in a professional setting. I've been staying busy with a variety of tasks, focusing on completing several projects and managing incoming orders.
Sliding Top Desk Project: One of the key projects I’ve been working on is the sliding top desk. I’m in the process of assembling and perfecting this unique piece. This task has been a great opportunity to apply problem-solving skills, as I’ve had to navigate design details, material selection, and the technical assembly of the desk.
Overall, it's been a productive week filled with new learning opportunities. I'm continuing to develop my technical skills and strengthen my understanding of workplace dynamics, and I’m looking forward to tackling more projects in the weeks to come!
What Sophomores did in MDET this week was mainly work on drawings to improve our overall skills in the area. Drawings we have already done before in AutoCAD were reintroduced but now we did them in Solidworks. We also went over a little bit of the “20 Rules of Dimensioning”. This included types of dimensions like size and location. This was helpful to improve our drawings and make them more accurate. We also did a packet and that went over the proper title block and dimension basics. This helped remind us how to list and name drawings. We also started working on our OSHA certificates. We work on our OSHA certificates for the last hour of the day. Obtaining this OSHA certificate will help us be more certified and obtain opportunities like shadowing and jobs in the MDET industry better. This will allow us to gain more experience in the field and expand on our careers.
This week in MDET we started getting our OSHA 10 certifications, went over the basics of dimensions, and learned about title blocks. Getting an OSHA 10 certification means that you've completed a 10-hour OSHA course about safety in the workplace and also means that you are aware of common job-related hazards and how to be safe. The basics of dimensions are that dimensions come in either location dimensions which tell you where to place a part, and size dimensions which tell you the length, width, height, and diameter of the parts. Finally, title blocks are an area on a drawing that tells us most general information that isn't drawn. For example, some information shown is the name of a company, drawing number, part name, and scale.
This week in MDET Kanye, Efaz, and Jaden taught the freshman class while Mr. Jordan was away on an important business trip. They gave the freshman a presentation on architecture and showed them how to use home-styler to design they're dream house. Also, this week the football start of MDET Kanye Pitts got nominated as football offensive player of the week for the great game he had against Wilcox/kaynor tech. He put up and impressive stat line of 2 touchdowns including a 78-yard kick return touchdown.
What we did this week in Mdet is we started working on solidworks and then went to open house and showed our trade and our academic classes and did different drawings and dimensions on Solidworks and we learned about what solidworks is and how to use it and how to do drawings on solidworks and add dimensions on drawings in solidworks
This week in M.D.E.T. we started to learn how to use solid works, which is a designing platform that's like autocad (which we used last year) but it's 3 dimensional instead of 2d. Our assignments for the week focused on using solid works to make parts and the tutorial in the software. We also put those parts in a daring sheet with usually 3 views and a trimetric view inside the same software. After we finish making the drawing on solidworks we print them into pdfs and turn them into the assignment in google classroom.
