Topic 5 FRQ.   What a great way to start the New Year!  This semester you will be doing way more FRQ practice than first semester since you know more now and can now easily synthesize APES ideas from many different topics.

Topic 5.7 - The truth behind how much of our meat is produced.  This is a hugely important topic to understand and master.  It has implications for understanding its impact on sustainability and climate change.

Ecological Footprints Lab.   You will be calculating your "ecological footprint" two different ways during this lab.

Topic 5.9 - Impacts of Mining.   There is quite a bit of information in this topic.  Please complete all the requested reading in your textbook and WYRNTK packets so you reinforce what we discuss in class today.

Urbanization and its Consequences.   What will happen as much of our planet urbanizes?  How do we handle water runoff during storms in urban areas?

Unit 5 Wrap Up and Review.   Please prepare thoroughly to succeed on the Unit 5 Assessment - know the content well enough to write well substantiated FRQs. 

Day 1 Horizon Testing.   You will need to be VERY serious about doing your best on this testing, opportunities for the future depend on you performing at your BEST today.

Day 2 Horizon Testing.   ou will need to be VERY serious about doing your best on this testing, opportunities for the future depend on you performing at your BEST today.

Unit 5 Test.   This was a long unit, hopefully you've used your time wisely to study and prepare.  Make sure you arrive to class prepared to do your very best.

Unit 6 Begins Today.   This is a VERY important unit  that correlates in a huge way with climate change.  There is also important math to learn.

Another Very Cold Day!  Do some reading to get ahead in your APES textbook.

Topics 6.3 and 6.4.   More about fuel types and uses and well as where we find energy resources around the globe.

Fossil Fuels.   This is a very important topic to master.  Put in a little extra effort with this topic, it will increase your understanding later.

Nuclear Energy and Math Practice.   This is a very important topic that you will have some relative easy math to master with.  We will be practicing how to calculate half-life after discussing the essential information about this very broad topic.

Energy from Biomass.   Please be certain you read about energy from biomass prior to our discussion today.  We will also finish up some of the half-life problems (the key will be posted on Google Classroom).

Solar Energy.   The advantages and disadvantages of the various forms of solar energy will be discussed today.

The best dam day of the year!   Finally, after all the bad dam jokes and memes - a discussion of hydrolectric power generation.  We will also do a short group renewable energy activity.

Whew!  Lots to learn today!  We will be looking at other renewable forms of energy including geothermal, hydrogen fuel technology and wind energy.
