"We must all DO THEATRE, to find out who we are, and to discover who we could become."
-Augusto Boal
In Theatre Arts class we will have lots of fun playing drama games and creating theatre together! We start by building our ensemble and getting to know each other. I believe that when students feel safe, accepted, and known, they can take appropriate risks in their work and achieve their goals! Click here to see the detailed syllabus for Theatre Arts class.
The Actor's Tools
Body (physicality, energy, expression)
Voice (projection, expression, clarity)
Mind (concentration, cooperation, listening, planning, spontaneity...and more!)
Imagination! (creativity, empathy)
In Theatre Arts students will learn how to improve the Actor's Tools and they will explore how to use them through playmaking, improvisation and script analysis. Students will "step into the shoes" of a character to gain new perspectives and reflect on their experiences.
Hello, I'm Mrs. Nichols.
I'm so excited to be the new Theatre Arts teacher at Beacon Hill Middle School! I have been teaching Drama for over 15 years to students of all ages, but middle school is my favorite age group! I have a fun, process-oriented approach that incorporates games and improv into every class. I encourage my students to be collaborators and creators of their own work. I can't wait to meet you all!
