A Study Shown By The Century Foundation Shows That Schools Are Underfunded By Nearly $50 Billion Annually And Can Restrict Schools From Being Provided With The Proper Materials For Students To Learn. July 22, 2020 TCF
This Shows That Schools Need More Funding To Provide Mental Health Resources For Students.
We plan to fund this by increasing sales tax on fire arms, and the shells and cartridges used as ammunition. This is relates to Schools because in the United states, the average weapon used to threaten and in school attacks, is guns. Many families end up buying guns to protect their beloved families, but their very own guns end up harming who they want to help instead. Increasing funds on firearms to put into mental health could help combat the possibility of kids even thinking of using the weapons to harm others.
How Do We Plan to Continue The Tax Increase?
In Arizona, The first type of tax on firearms is 10% on Pistols and Revolvers. There are a separate tax on cartridges and shells too, with the tax being 11% instead.
We plan to increase the tax by 2% on both items. Schools annually increase the school funding by 2%, making the tax a fair increase that blends in with the normal tax rate for schools.
Some opposing individuals might be the citizens that purchase the guns and the items used as ammunition. They most likely won't like the fact that an item of protection, is being taxed. It might be harder for them to afford the fire arms considering a 2% increase builds up after a while.
We can get the opponents to support us, because even though we are slightly increasing the tax by 2%, people can still purchase guns. There is only an added price that actually benefits their own children in the end. By increasing the tax money on guns, the weapon they usually buy to protect their kids at home, they can also have an added benefit of protecting their kids at school too.
