Review ABC's and Letter Sounds, reading CVC words, practicing blends
Practice sight words listed above
Practice name writing
First Sound Fluency, ie. What is the first sound you hear in the word "dog", students reply with the sound /d/
Phoneme Segmentation, ie. Tell me the sounds in "dog," /d/ /o/ /g/
Adding and Subtracting within 10
Composing and decomposing numbers to 20
Counting to 100
Number Identification to 20
Please take 10-15 minutes daily to reinforce these things at home.

- find sight words on books, billboards, or while out and about

please make time to read with your child for 15-20 minutes each night and practice sight words.

Attendance - Please make sure your child is in school daily, but if your child is sick or needs to be out for any reason, please email your child's teacher and our registrar, Ms. Bernice at BVillarreal@craneschools.org. Your child's absence will not be excused if you do not notify the registrar, the notification must contain the teacher's name, reason for absence, and date of absence.
Birthdays - We would love to celebrate your child's birthday in class! If you would like to send in birthday treats for the class, please contact us a few days prior to make arrangements. We respectfully request that you do not bring in cupcakes, as they are messy. Pre-packaged cookies, rice crispy treats, ice cream cups, and popsicles are all great ideas for treats to send in.
Cafeteria - Our district provides free breakfast and lunch to all students. Please have your child arrive at school by 7:40 am if they will be having breakfast at school. We will have lunch from 11:00-11:25 am each day with recess from 11:25-11:45 am.
Drop off - Kindergarten students and their siblings can be dropped off at the back parking lot starting at 7:40 am.
Email - Email is the best way to communicate with your child's teacher. We try to respond as soon as possible, but please understand that it is difficult to respond during the school day.

Field Trips - We have two field trips planned for the school year. As the dates get closer, we will communicate with you on details and request field trip chaperones.
Hydration - We want our KinderGators to stay hydrated at school! Please send in a reusable water bottle clearly marked with your child's name daily. We have water coolers in our classrooms, and students can refill their water bottle as often as needed in class!

Kindergarten is the BEST!- We are certain your child will feel safe and comfortable with us! We are going to learn so much, just wait to see their growth!

Nurse- Our nurse Ms. Sheldon is wonderful. If you have any medications that your child needs to take you must bring them in.
Playground - Our school currently has one playground, so we will do our best to get our kindergarteners on it as often as possible throughout the week!

Reading- Please read each night with your child for at least 20 minutes, this will be the only homework requirement all year long!
Specials - Students will have specials every day except Wednesdays. Their specials block is 45 minutes and we will have Creativity, P.E., and Spanish!
Snack - Kindergarteners will have two snack breaks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon at afternoon recess. On Wednesdays, we will only have a morning snack. Please send in two small snacks of your choosing in the front pocket of their backpack daily. Please keep the morning snack a fruit/veggie.
Toys- Please leave all toys at home. We would not like for any toys to be broken or lost at school!

Volunteers- We hope to have volunteers this upcoming school year. More information to come as we learn more!
