Science Extra Credit: Your child was offered the opportunity to earn extra credit in science. If they choose to participate, they will have a moon tracking journal to use. The assignment is due Friday, September 19th.
TESTING CHANGES:
We have heard your feedback, and students will no longer be taking a Grammar Bell Work quiz. Students will instead take a grammar quiz that focuses on their HMH practice. Students can study by taking their grammar packet home on Thursdays to review the skill.
HMH Weekly Assessments will now be taken on Wednesdays.
SOCIAL STUDIES: Student essays will be entered as a social studies grade. This quarter, their essay will answer the question: Was the Stamp Act Justified? This is based on the DBQ we have been discussing in class all quarter. You can help your child at home by asking them about their perspective and what proof they have to support their opinion.
*Birthday celebrations for SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER will be held on Friday, October 31st. Please sign up here if your child has a birthday either month or if you would just like to contribute ;).
Reading: Students will identify the text structure of an expository text. Students will also explain what effect figurative language has on the text.
Math: Students will:
Represent and solve problems involving the multiplication of a whole number by a fraction or mixed number
Science: Students will "investigate how bright the Sun appears from each planet in our solar system in addition to stars of other solar systems in galaxies far away." -Mystery Science
Social Studies: Students will begin to work on writing their social studies essay to answer the question: Was the Stamp Act justified?
Fridays: Math and Language Bell Work Quizzes
Your child should be taking home their bell work each Thursday to use as a review for Friday's quiz.
Wednesdays: HMH Weekly Assessment
To help prepare, students should be taking home grammar and reading skills practice sheets that they have completed in class throughout the week.
Your child's login information for HMH, Google Classroom, and ST Math is their 111 number. Their password is their letter password (your Gator will know what that is ;)). For Lexia, the username and password is their 111 Number.
Students may access Clever here to use the learning programs at home. Once they log in to Clever, they will not need to use any additional passwords. If your child is not at grade level in Lexia or ST Math, at-home practice is crucial.
Dress Code Reminders: Please visit the Crane Schools Site to review the district dress code policy. Students who violate the dress code will receive 2 verbal reminders. Continuous violation of the dress code will result in your child being sent to the office to wait for you to bring an outfit change. Only solid-colored sweaters will be allowed in the classroom. Students who bring hats to school must refrain from using them indoors.
