Why is there a Nee-doh and a Dumpling toy craze? The answer is simple: it’s the new trend. Ever since the start of the internet, online content has been very beneficial for companies. The fast spread of information allows products to become popular quickly. When people see a product being advertised across many social media platforms, it propels them to buy the item since the popularity makes the product seem worth it. Also, when popular influencers who act as role models for children and teenagers support a certain product or sponsor it, it can increase sales because children and teens trust and idolize their role models. When the majority of people own the same item, others who don’t could feel peer pressure to buy the product. Trends could be harmful, but in the case of Nee-doh and Dumpling toys, the outcome seems to be positive. A study from the National Library of Medicine claims Nee-doh and Dumpling toys can help students in the classroom. The study states, “students who used fidget aids were better able to ignore distractions, they were off task less frequently, and were less disruptive than if they did not have them.” Fidget toys can also help children with ADHD focus. In conclusion, Nee-doh and Dumpling toys are the new obsession, but their positive effects make them overtaking classrooms not such a bad thing.
