A fly-in program is an all-expenses-paid (or heavily subsidized) campus visit program designed to give prospective high school seniors an immersive, firsthand look at college life. Colleges cover the cost of your round-trip flight, train ticket, housing in dorms, and meals while you explore the campus.

Who are Fly-In Programs for?
Fly-in programs are open to high-achieving high school seniors (generally a 3.6+ GPA)
They support students from underrepresented or under-resourced backgrounds, including:
First-generation college students (the first in their family to attend a 4-year college)
Underrepresented racial or ethnic minorities
Students from low-income or financial-need backgrounds
Students from rural or geographically distant high schools

It’s Free (or Very Low Cost): The host college typically pays for travel, meals, and on-campus accommodation.
Insider Admissions Access: You'll attend specialized workshops on college applications, essay writing, and financial aid led by admissions officers.
Experience Real Campus Life: Stay overnight in a residence hall with a current student host, eat in the dining halls, sit in on college classes, and meet prospective classmates.
Demonstrate High Interest: Attending a fly-in signals strong interest to the admissions office, which can give your application a boost during the fall admissions cycle.

Many programs open late spring of Junior year or summer before seniors year.
Most are due over the summer, but many continue to accept students through the start of senior year.
To apply, you'll likely need your transcript, short essays, financial info, and potentially a nomination/recommendation.
