If a student gets a positive test result, a parent or guardian can report this to cps at cps.edu/covidresults
If a staff gets a positive test result, they can self report by emailing talenthealth@cps.edu
Once reported, a CPS Contact Tracer will begin to investigate (trace) and determine possible exposure
CPS Contact Tracer will begin an investigation to “trace” and determine possible exposures to the COVID-19 positive case- this includes determining if the ill individual was in a CPS building during their contagious period (two days prior to onset of symptoms or positive test if asymptomatic), and what individuals were in close contact with them.
People advised to quarantine must remain in quarantine for 14 days, even with a negative Covid test.
While in quarantine, students will switch to remote learning until their 14 days are up.
Close contact is defined by CDC as someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic clients, 2 days prior to positive specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.
Reporting a positive test result is not required. However reporting a positive test result can allow for proper contract tracing and help reduce spread within the class or school.
If you think you've been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, please consult your healthcare provider and get tested. If you were in a CPS facility, please report your test results promptly.
Please do not feel self conscious about a positive test result, there are many cases at this time and spread is happening. We hope that as a part of the Mitchell community, we can all work together by using best practices to help reduce the spread of covid-19. We understand if you do not wish to report a positive test result, but by reporting, you can help keep others in our community safe.
