Students can bring their own cloth face mask. If your student needs a cloth face covering for school, we do have some to distribute.
Cloth Face Masks should follow CDC guidance of being at least 2-3 layers of fabric
Disposable masks like kn95 or surgical masks are ok as well if they fit correctly
Make sure you or your child’s mask fits properly
Masks must cover your nose, mouth and chin. If your child's mask can not stay up over their nose, please see if you can use a different style mask.
Students should bring 2-3 extra masks to change out any wet or damaged masks during the day. You may choose to have the students leave the spare masks at school or have them keep in their backpacks. *teachers may have their own class policy regarding this. Make sure to label any bags with spare masks.
No Bandanas or Neck Gaiters - we know these provide a small level of safety when used outdoors, but these will not be adequate for long periods of indoor time.
Practice putting on and taking off your face masks correctly! Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before and after. Put on or take off your mask using the ear straps only. Don’t touch the front part of the mask. CDC - How to Safely Wear Cloth Face Coverings
Practice a good way to store your mask when not in use. Hold the edges of the mask to fold the mask in half with the face side on the inside of the fold. A plastic ziplock bag is an easy way to store masks. One bag for new ones and one for used ones.
Cloth face masks should be laundered or properly cleaned daily!
The school has extra masks for anyone that might need one during the day.
Face shields - For added protection students are allowed to wear a face shield if they so choose, however a cloth face mask must be worn under the shield. At this time we can not provide any face shields to students.
Students will be allowed to take off their masks during meal times and to take sips of water from their water bottles
At this time, students will be wearing their masks during outdoor time
Parents- if a staff member asks you to put on a mask when visiting the school and school grounds, please be kind. Understand this is our new rule and staff are doing their part to help keep all of us safe during this time.
Caregivers and students on the Mitchell school grounds during drop off, school hours and pick up times will be required to wear masks.
For sanitation reasons, cloth masks found outside or on the ground will be thrown away and will not be placed in the lost and found.
