We have been working so hard to make sure that we meet all of the recommended safety precautions for a safe opening. Now we are asking for your help as a Mitchell Community member. It is shown that safety precautions inside a school building alone, can not be successful without commitment from the school community and responsible behavior outside of school with regard to COVID-19. What is discussed below are recommendations we hope you will consider; we understand that this is a request and not a requirement.
Adhere to social distancing, wearing cloth face coverings/mask, and practicing good hand hygiene, both at school and at home
Avoid large social gatherings, refrain from expanding your social circles, and pledge to keep your social circles small
Adhere to the City of Chicago’s Stay-at-Home advisory including quarantining for the appropriate number of days depending on the travel location
Observe and teach healthy hygiene habits we use at school at home: 20-second hand washing, appropriate use of face coverings, catching coughs and sneezes in a tissue or your elbow
Make the decision to stay home when sick
Be an example for your children and neighbors by modeling safe, responsible behaviors and compassion for others
Our goal is to provide in-person learning, for those who elect to attend, in a safe environment. In order to meet that goal, it takes the collective responsibility of all to keep our friends, classmates, and our Mitchell staff safe. As a Mitchell family -- parents, guardians, educators, staff and students -- we agree to engage in these safe behaviors in order to keep our community as safe as possible.
