Daily Entry Temperature Checks
Mr. Schulte in his Care Room Attendant PPE
Our old music room is now one of our Care Rooms.
Everyone entering the building will need to get their temperature checked.
Temperatures are taken with a touchless thermal thermometer.
Staff will aim the thermometer at the student's forehead. It's touchless and painless!
Please review this step with your children so that they can be ready for a staff member take their temperature.
Students will receive their temperature checks at their entry points. Sometimes a second temperature check is needed on cold days, and this might be done inside the classroom.
Students will be sent home if they have a temperature of 100.4° or higher at check in or any point in the day. Those students will wait for pick up in a designated Care Room.
Mitchell has 2 designated Care Rooms. A Care Room is where students that may become sick during the day with Covid-type symptoms will wait to be picked up. Teachers will buzz the office and a designated staff member will escort the student to the Care Room.
Parents/Caregivers will be notified for immediate pick up from Door #9. (Not the main entrance)
Care Rooms will have one CRA (Care Room Attendant) that will stay with the student until a parent or guardian can pick up.
The CRA (Care Room Attendant) is required to wear correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when waiting with an ill student in the care room. Please see the photo on the left for an example of how a CRA will look.
Mr. Schulte and Ms. Rita will be our CRAs.
The Care Room has an air purifier.
If there is more than 1 student that requires use of the care room, the other student will be shown to the 2nd care room. If both care rooms have students in them, additional students in the space will be socially distanced as much as possible.
Care Rooms are assigned strict cleaning protocols from our custodial staff.
Any student that present symptoms of illness/injury that can be explained explained by other means (ie: chronic asthma, chronic migraines or injury) will be kept in an area separate from the care room. Most students will probably wait for pick up in the Care Room.
