In this section we will be learning about round parts and how we can use tools like Revolve and Circular Patterns to create their geometry. Let's begin with an overview of the Revolve tool.
Now that we have reviewed the different options with the Revolve tool, we will practice creating parts with it. You will begin by creating a hex hub that is commonly used by the robotics team. Once you have mastered the modeling skills to create the Hub from a mechanical drawing and video, you will create a model of one of the Mr. Sketch Marker Caps.
To being, review the Hex Hub and the Mechanical Drawing of the part:
Follow along with the video to create a model of the hub. In this video you will develop a better understanding of the Revolve tool along with the use of the Trim tool and Circular Pattern Tool. Also note that you can use the drawing above to find the dimensions of part.
Now use your skills to create a model of the marker cap.
Reference the sketch and measurement points then connect the dots in your sketch to create this shape.
Follow along with the tutorial and CAD the marker Cap. Note that you will use points from the document on the left to help accurately define the revolve shape.
Once you have completed the models verify you have completed the tasks correctly by taking the Revolve Quiz:
