Researching CAD Programs

There are many different CAD Programs available.  Just like in the design process, there are trade-off for each.  Some have specific areas of specialization, for example they are used in Civil Engineering and Construction vs. Mechanical Engineering and Industrial design.  

In this activity, you will investigate differ CAD Software and develop an understanding of the different applications and the trade-offs such as cost or functionality. 

Copy the contents of the following document into the same section in your Engineering Notebook.  Pick a partner to work with. Together, get an assigned software from the following list:

1. Fusion 360

2. Solidworks

3. Catia

4. Inventor

5. Sketchup

6. Rhino

7. Onshape

8. Blender

9. Revit

10. FreeCAD

11. TinkerCAD

12. PTC Creo

13. AutoCAD

14. NX

Then work through the activity.
