Where do the most pedestrian accidents occur?
The graph to the left shows data from 2024 that depicts what streets in the second ward experience the greatest number of crashes. These numbers parallel those of previous years, in that the streets Wells, Huron, North, Fairbanks, La Salle, and Clark have consistently higher levels of pedestrian incidents. These numbers suggest that more protection should be placed in these areas in order to mitigate the presence of these incidents.
The graph to the left shows some of the second ward's most severe pedestrian injuries as a result of traffic crashes in 2024. It is evident that majority of these crashes occur downtown, but it is also important to note that there aren't many fatal crashes to begin with, which suggests that there needs to be more of a focus on other types of injuries.
