SCHOOL SONG, PLEDGE, AND PRAYER
Each learner must know the school song, pledge, and prayer
The pledge and prayer must be repeated and the song sung on a daily basis
These should be conspicuously displayed on the walls of the classroom.
TIMETABLE
Master
This is a Whole-School Timetable and reflects the academic pursuits of every Grade.
The Master Timetable must be analyzed.
The Analysis and Master Timetable must be conspicuously displayed.
Core, enrichment and Pre-Vocational disciplines, Learning Session and Sessional Activities must be reflected thereon.
The school has no authority to make change to the National Timetable, unless approval is sought from, and granted by, the Chief Education Officer. The established channel of communication must be made use of.
Teaching must be done in accordance with the National Timetable.
Divisional/Departmental
These should be copied from the Master Timetable.
Each Divisional/Departmental Timetable should be conspicuously mounted on a wall in the Division/Department concerned.
Class
This is copied from the Divisional/Departmental Timetable and mounted on a wall in the particular classroom.
Each student/pupil must be in possession of a copy of his/her Class Timetable.
Teaching must be done in accordance with the provisions in the Class Timetable; any variation must be sanctioned by the Head teacher.
LIST OF TEXT BOOKS TO BE ACQUIRED
This is a list of those text books for which the school has a need.
The list should be compiled as per subject area.
This list must be compiled annually, using the prescribed format.
A copy of the list of Textbooks to be Acquired must be forwarded to the head of Department of education.
STAFF INSTRUCTION BOOK
This is used for general and specific instruction- to individual or entire staff.
Instruction must be clear, specific and time bound.
Instruction, as far as possible should be given well in advance of the activity or required action.
Staff members addressed must sign and date instruction.
LISTS OF DUTIES
Master List of Duties
Reflects all duties to be performed by staff for the school to achieve its mission and objectives.
This list could be prepared on either a termly or yearly basis.
Standard Operational Procedures, Work Plan, Calendar of Events, Desk Manual, Orientation Booklet, Records and Documents to be kept by Schools, and class analysis for Teachers should serve as source documents for the preparation of the master List of Duties.
INDIVIDUAL LIST OF DUTIES
From the Master list of duties, the Individual list are drawn up-two copies for each teacher.
Each teacher must sign and date his/her list- a copy of which be kept in his/her personal file and the other given to him/her.
APPRAISAL RECORDS
Each teacher must be appraised and the record kept thereof.
Termly appraisals must be done by the teacher supervisor.
Termly score must be taken into account when the annual score is to be computed.
Annual appraisal must always be done by a panel.
Feedback must be given to each appraise subsequent to the appraisal session.
While the individual appraisal forms are done and kept, a summary of Awards must also be kept.
Three copies of appraisal forms for each teacher must be completed- one to be kept at the school in the teacher’s personal file and the other two forwarded to the Department of education or school Board.
Appraisal information/data should be used to inform the selection of topics for the staff development plan and to give focus to clinical supervision.
Every supervisory encounter must be recorded and the data used to inform the appraisal process.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT RECORDS
Staff Development Plan
Staff development plan must be prepared on an annual basis.
Selection of topics must be informed by observed weakness and special interest of teachers in relation to school to school administration, pedagogy or learners/teacher welfare. A needs analysis would help in this regard
STAFF DEVELOPMENT REPORT
Staff development sessions must be held at least once per month.
Each session must be documented using the prescribed format.
