Here’s what you need to know to start your day the right way at East Coweta Middle School:
You must be in your homeroom by 8:15 AM, that’s when the tardy bell rings. If you're not in your seat by then, you'll be counted tardy to school.
Bus riders will be dropped off at the front of the school right off Hwy 16.
Car riders will be dropped off on the side of the building. You can start getting dropped off at 7:30 AM, but remember you cannot be left alone before that time.
If you arrive after 8:15, your parent will need to drop you off at the front entrance, not the side. Cars will need to stay to the left of the school buses, and don’t worry, an adult will be there to help guide you safely.
Safety is our top priority! That means:
Listen to all adult directions
No electronics should be out during arrival
Watch for traffic and follow the rules
Officer Kirk will be out there in the mornings making sure everything runs safely and smoothly.
Let’s start the day safe, respectful, and ready to learn!
Your parent may view bus changes and bus dismissal as you are dismissed from the school using the link here. Our office will highlight the bus number as it is dismissed. This spreadsheet will be updated by 2:30 p.m. each day. Please have your parent bookmark this link and refresh the page each day. Your parent can also view this information from the ECMS website by clicking on Afternoon Bus Status.
The list of bus routes is available in the front office and also during orientation. The bus numbers for each student will be confirmed on the first day of school. Students must learn your bus numbers for middle school, not bus animals as for elementary.
Students are not allowed to ride home with friends.
Students, if you are a car rider, please go get your parent or guardian right now so that you can view this together.
We have over 400 cars that go through our car rider zone in the afternoons. The breezeway area is the ONLY area that you will be allowed to get into your car. Your parent will follow the purple line to get lined up for car rider. Please let them know to not worry, we have a plan to move the traffic along so that you can get in the car safely and quickly, but it requires YOU to be alert and listening.
Students, you will only load into cars in the designated Student Zone, which is the breezeway area. Your parent will stay in their vehicle. There is NO PARKING in the pickup lane. If you are not ready when your parent pulls into the pickup lane, your parent will have to circle back around. That might not make them very happy with you, so make sure you are paying attention! Again, your electronics should be put away so you will not be distracted. ECMS staff will help you and call out names so that you can load safely. Listen for the "LOAD" call. That directs you to load into your car. Listen for the “ROLLING” call. That let's you know cars are moving. Do not cross the yellow line on the breezeway until you hear, LOAD!
Parents, for safety reasons the process will not be altered. No students will be crossing the grassy area to the side street.
Just SMILE!
