October 2019: All the bearings on the Model 81 bandsaw were replaced by Barbo Machinery (technician -- Corey). In addition, the tires were replaced at this time.
December 2022: The PM2013B was installed and placed in operation in May 2021. It worked fine in the spring. After the summer, the saw would not start. Numerous calls were made with JPW Industries (owner of Powermatic) Tech Support and Tech Support Case Number 00305038 was generated. First, a spare mag-switch was sent and installed by Adam. This did not solve the problem. After checking the amps the motor was pulling, a new motor was shipped and installed by Adam on 12/20/22. The saw is now functional.
5/19/23: Wheel tires replaced on SN #15111263. The bottom tire kept coming loose and was chewed up to the point where it would not stay on. It is unclear if excessive heat in the shop contributed to the problem.
5/22/23: Wheel tires replaced on SN #15111251. The bottom tire kept coming loose and was chewed up to the point where it would not stay on. It is unclear if excessive heat in the shop contributed to the problem.
5/6/24: The brake shoe has come off its assembly and no longer was bringing the machine to a stop. Upon disassembly, it was discovered that the left bolt holding the shoe to the brake assembly bar itself had sheared off at the bar (too much force being applied by users in a hurry to stop the machine?). New brake shoe and assembly ordered.
5/14/24: New brake shoe installed. The new brake assembly did not have holes installed in the correct location for the brake shoe and, when installed, did not come into contact with the wheel drum. So the broken screw in the original assembly was drilled out, the holes re-tapped (M6x1x25mm), and the assembly reused.
The new brake assembly PM9-PM2013B-122 received from JPW Industries (Powermatic) is shown on the left. Notice that it only has the upper pair of holes for the brake shoe. When installed in this position, the brake does not come into contact with the brake drum when the foot brake assembly is fully depressed.
11/29/24: A new fence body was ordered for the east small bandsaw (Serial #15111251) after the original was damaged. The spring steel that the set screws push against broke on one side and the fence could no longer lock in place. Parts from the old fence assembly were used for the new fence body. The fence was realigned.
