There are several ways of asking about the weather, but we will use a simple one to start with;
He aha te rangi?
Literally 'what is the the sky doing?' or 'what is Ranginui doing?'
You could add 'i tēnei rā' = today. So, you would have 'He aha te rangi i tēnei rā? - What is the weather like today?
Let's have a look at some different sorts of weather:
There are a couple of structures we can use to talk about the weather;
He + adjective e.g. He makariri, (It's cold) he wera (it's hot)
Kei te or E ... ana + action word (VERB) e.g. Kei te ua (It is raining) Kei te whiti te rā (the sun is shining)
