Pronunciation: Lacking confidence in pronunciation is one of the biggest barriers. but
Value: The mindset that it has no economic value means that people are less willing to engage in learning it and choose other languages instead.
Belonging: the notion that non-Māori shouldn't learn te reo Māori because it belongs to Māori. But he says that te reo Māori is a taonga that belongs to all of us. It is our national language.
