I worked as a Dietetic Technician at the Fargo, ND Essentia Health from May of 2018 to August of 2020 two years. As a Dietetic Technician, I effectively communicated with patients via phone about their diet orders for various disease states. I strove to communicate with patients in a way in which they felt understood, listened to, and cared for by providing diet education and suggesting options suitable for their prescribed diet. When patients were unhappy with their prescribed diet order, I was patient with them and made sure they felt like they had as many options as possible for their specific diet. I also communicated with and adhered to the orders from dietitians, nursing, doctors, and speech therapists while referring to the Epic medical health records system. Additionally, I took the initiative to create a new training manual for dietetic technicians, which has been used for training new hires since spring of 2019.
