During the summer of 2019, I had the opportunity to shadow a renal dietitian who rotated between three different locations. With my passion for nutrition and chemistry, I was fascinated by the biochemical focus of chronic kidney disease. I developed a deeper understanding of reading lab values, an enhanced incite on physical symptoms of nutrient deficiencies and toxicities, and an increased appreciation for the skill of providing effective medical nutrition therapy.
