May is such a busy month in 2nd Grade! We cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by. Thank you, parents, for supporting your child all year long. 2nd Grade is the best!Â
In reading students are focusing on reading for research. They will use books, along with TexQuest online tools to research a person, place, or other interesting idea. If your student needs a book, they will be encouraged to check one out from our school library, or they may need help from home finding a certain topic. Second graders are finishing up their fiction book clubs. They have been comparing a character across a series of books. We will finish the school year with a research project. Student will use their nonfiction reading skills to write a rearch project on a person, place, or other interests.Â

In math, we will be working on modeling multiplication and division. We will begin our Personal Financial Literacy Unit which goes perfectly with what we have been learning in social studies. We are so proud of all the growth students have made in math this year!
In science, we will continue to learn all about animals- their habitats, traits that help them find food and water, life cycles and how each animal relates to specific food chains!
In social studies, we will continue our economics studies. The students will be able to explain how work provides income to purchase goods and services and explain the choices people can make about earning, spending, and saving money!Â
