4th graders are so excited to be starting their historical fiction book clubs! Please be sure your student keeps up with their required reaading and has their book in class each day. In our historical fiction unit, we are also researching different time periods. Our read aloud class novel is Number the Stars by Lois Lowry.
Students are working with different types of syllables, creating word sorts, and working on their reading fluency. In our writing unit, students are continuing to apply their knowledge of simple and compound sentences. Â
In Math we are working hard on our measurement unit! Relative units of length, weight/mass, and capacity are where it's at! We will also be working on conversions in this unit - you know, how many pints in a gallon, how many inches in 4 yards, etc. We will let you know about the test date soon!
Weathering, erosion, deposition - OH MY! We're diving in to how slow changes are made to the earth by the three means. It's actually really interesting, and we are able to relate it back to our real world and current events very easily.
COME AND TAKE IT! In Texas History, we're learning about the causes of the Revolution, the Texas Revolution itself and HEROES of the Alamo! Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, William B. Travis, Susanna Dickinson, and so many more contributed to Texas becoming the BEST state that it is today!
