In reading students are focusing on the research unit. We are diving into non-fiction books that are on topic with the specific animal they chose. They are using many resources to research and learn new information. Exploring new things is so much fun!
In phonics we are working on digraphs and silent letters. Thank you for helping your child practice their spelling words every week. This helps set them up for success as they grow in their writing. Students are deep in their research unit and are gathering information, recording it, and organizing it into one big project. We can't wait to share our findings with you!
In Math, we are still learning how to use objects, pictures, and equations to solve one step and multi-step problems. Students are staring to realize that not ALL information given may be useful to solving the problem. We are also exploring all things place value such as ordering and comparing numbers using place value blocks!
In Science, we continue to explore animal adaptations, life cycles, and similarities and differences between parents and their young. You may notice your child particularly interested in one specific animal thanks to our exciting Zooland project that's right around the corner! Help them conduct research at home as they explore everything there is to know about their special animal.
In Social Studies, we are learning about making financial choices like earning, spending, saving, and donating. We are also exploring how to research and present information to others in an organized and respectful way.
