Let’s make some music! In MUSIC class, Challenger musicians practice and develop rhythmic skills, melodic skills and listening skills in age-appropriate, FUN ways. We make and experience music together using singing voices, instruments, movement, children’s books, and games. And we READ music, using visual representation and music notation. Every time students come to class, we: Sing, Say, Move, Play, Read, Listen (like musicians do), and Create!
This time of the year, we celebrate winter! Your musician may come home singing songs or reciting poems about the sights and sounds of winter, like SNOW, ice, snowmen, and frost. There are lots of programs coming up in the second half of the year! Mark your calendars for your child’s program and stay tuned for more details when the event gets close.
In art class we are continuing to grow our art vocabulary. Students are finishing their Gustav Klimt artwork. The students have been very creative with their design work for their Tree of Life. They have used what they have learned about Klimt's style to create their own designs for their Tree of Life. Upon completion of our current artist, we will begin our Rodeo art projects the this years Houston Livestock and Rodeo Art Show. We continue to learn about the elements of Art and the principles of Design as well to become our best artist selves.
In PE, Challengers are focusing on improving their overall fitness through a variety of activities and exercise.Â
Thank you for supporting our Book Fairs and library throughout the year. What a great successful school year we have had. As our school year is coming to a close, remember to turn in all library books and take care of any fines due to lost or damaged books. All library books are due back by Friday, May 9th! Have a wonderful summer and remember to READ! READ! READ!
In computer, students will continue to self pace through learning.com to learn typing and digital citizenship.Â
