This week we’ll have a look at one of the largest percussion instruments of the idiophone group – the carillon. You already know the presenter – Martin Molin -- the creator of the Wintergatan marble machine that many of you enjoyed in music class. In the following videos, Martin Molin will perform music demonstrating the inner workings of a carillon, followed by the Wintergatan Marble Machine.

Alabama Gal

Alabama Gal (3^rd and 4^th Grades) – Consider teaching your family how to do this dance. Every third and fourth grade class performed Alabama Gal with enthusiasm and shared energetic singing voices. In addition to dancing, word memorization and energized singing, we also demonstrated our understanding of musical phrase through specific movements that changed as the words changed. Have fun!

POSITIVE Music Listening

This week’s featured positive music is from an unlikely source – video games. This theme is considered one of the most popular in the world and was composed by Koji Kondo in 1985 for Nintendo. Can you guess it? For the most part, the quality improves the longer the students perform – the duet to be a bit flustered in the beginning but they show great enthusiasm, musical memory and they never give up.
