Expressions of interest are invited for submission of manuscripts on
* How we create meaning
* Language and emotive processes
* Pragmatics in communication theory, and more.
The Communication Institute is interested in research to reassess common explanations of meaning creation in public discourse. We especially welcome contact with scholars who bridge concepts and perspectives from two or more fields, including philosophy, linguistics, semiotics, rhetoric, stylistics, pragmatics, politics or other approaches. Whether your research is at an early or more advanced stage, please be in touch via the contact tab on this website for further details about our publications program, including the forthcoming Research Paper Series.
While contributions are invited from academics, teachers and practitioners from the variety of disciplines dealing with communication, please ensure your contribution is written to be easily understood by an informed general reader, who is not necessarily specialized in your discipline. Manuscripts under review for publication elsewhere or previously published are generally not eligible for consideration.
Before submitting your manuscript, you are requested to send the title of your proposed publication and an up to 300 word abstract, with a less than 30 word biography. Articles should be in one of the following ranges: article - 3,000 to 5,000 words; short article - 1,200 to 2,500 words, including references. For book manuscripts or any other questions about the procedures or conditions for submission, please make contact initially.
Following an editorial desk review, manuscripts suitable for consideration are double-blind peer reviewed. Authors will have the opportunity to make revisions based on these reviews. While the title page of a manuscript should contain the author(s) name(s) and insititutional affiliation, the author(s) should not be able to be identified within the text. The title of the work is to be repeated at the top of the first page of the body text.
An editorial decision will normally be notified within 60 days of receipt of the complete manuscript. Receipt will be acknowledged by return email. All submissions should conform to one of the major documentation styles, such as the current edition of the MLA Handbook or APA Publication Manual.
Authors are required to specify funding and potential conflicts of interest related to a submission's content and to affirm that the research adhered to legal and ethical principles in order to protect the dignity, rights and welfare of research participants. Any known use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) must be notified at the outset. No fees are charged for publication. An author retains copyright and grants to The Communication Institute first publication rights.
