Muscular Strength and Endurance

Muscular strength = heavy weight/low repetitions

Muscular endurance = light weight/high repetitions

There are two different muscular qualities that you’ll want to improve through strength training – muscular strength and muscular endurance. Muscular strength is the maximum amount of force a muscle can produce in a single effort. Muscular endurance is the ability of the muscle to continue to perform without fatigue.

Muscular strength and endurance help you to perform everyday tasks, such as carrying schoolbooks, climbing stairs, and lifting objects. They help you to maintain correct posture, reduce the risks of being injured, and help you enjoy physical activities without tiring. Muscular fitness improves your body composition by increasing muscle mass and decreasing fat tissue. It also keeps your bones dense and strong.

Most exercises for muscular fitness involve weight resistance. You can do pushups using your body as resistance, you can use free weights or dumbbells, or you can workout on a weight machine. The important thing to remember is to increase the number of repetitions that you do as your muscles get stronger. You build muscular strength by doing exercises only a few times with a lot of weight. You build muscular endurance by using less resistance and doing more repetitions.
