Why do we need to maintain our flexibility?
Flexibility is the ability to bend and move the joints through the full range of motion. Flexibility lets you bend and move easily and without pain. It helps prevent and relieve symptoms associated with arthritis, and it helps prevent low-back pain. A person that is flexible is less likely to injure muscles and joints, less likely to fall and get injured, and improves his/her performance in sports such as golf and tennis.
Stretching exercises two or three times a week is probably the easiest way to improve your flexibility. Stretching should be done slowly and each stretch held for 15-30 seconds and repeated three to five times. Each of the major joints in the body should be stretched. The easiest way to fit this part of physical fitness into your routine is to stretch after weight training.
