Working with experienced volunteers in 3D printing and with our Summer Teen Interns, we will set up a 3D workstation that is accessible in our technology space. We will also schedule a series of monthly workshops focused on teens and young adults with a goal of empowering them to run workshops. This program will also support other youth/teen programs we would like to enhance, such as our tabletop gaming and our miniature painting workshops.
3D printing would run approximately July through November. Workshops would also include learning how to use the computer to create and manage print models, the different types of filament and their uses, and encourage our young adults to also volunteer to run 3D printing programs for the library.
Additionally this project, will also include supporting the arts/painting workshops, in which we will create a space for youth and teens to paint models. An example of this: we ran a kids tabletop game called "snail races." One of our volunteers used his 3D printer to make snails for the kids. We let the kids paint the snails, and then they played a dice game to race their snails.
The initial project will aim to serve teens 14-18. The workshops will be implemented with 2 teen interns.
This is a FREE opportunity and the 3D printing in Willmaina would run approximately July through November.
