Gambling is an activity that carries risk and for some it may become a problem. Just like substances, gambling affects the brain in the same regions that substances do-- the reward system. For many, gambling does not impact the individual to the point where it is a problem, however for the 2.6% of the population that it does, it is essential that both the family and the person experiencing gambling problems knows the resources available.
