Courses are offered through the North Carolina Virtual Public School and Edgeunity. Below you will find a sample list of courses that are subject to change. If there is a specific course you are looking for, you can contact your school counselor to see if its offered.
PLEASE NOTE: Even through the course is listed there is not guarantee it will be approved. Core course offered at West Charlotte should be taken at West Charlotte unless otherwise approved due to an extraneous circumstance.
You must first meet with your school counselor to discuss your options. Your school counselor will then submit a request that must be approved by Principal Farley. Upon approval, you will then receive correspondence from our virtual coordinator regarding next steps.
With approval you can take courses in the Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions. In the Fall and Spring, the courses will be in addition to the courses you are currently enrolled in.
This is not an option for enrollment at West Charlotte, but those interested can apply to attend or the Charlotte Mecklenburg Virtual High School. You can find more information about that program HERE.
This will depend on the student and circumstances. We will allow 1 course each semester and in rare cases 2 courses.
You must complete all work by yourself. It is ok to work with other students on practice assignments, but all final work must be your own. You may NOT work with other students on quizzes, tests, or other scored activities.
It’s ok to ask for help! If you begin to struggle in your online class, you are expected to contact your teacher for help. As long as you are seeking assistance regularly and can demonstrate that you are actively working to improve your grade, you will not be dropped from the course.
You are responsible for the necessary computer equipment and software for your Edgenuity courses. You may be responsible for additional expenses for equipment or software for your Edgenuity courses, including but not limited to speakers, microphones, headsets, software, etc.
The Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Character Development Handbook’s Student Code of Conduct rules for internet usage apply to all Edgenuity courses.
Edgenuity grading is different from other online classes and your regular classes at school. You must maintain a passing grade (60% or higher) in your online class AT ALL TIMES or you will be dropped. Failure is not an option.

Students athletes can take new course work online courses. Student athletes who wish to attend a NCAA Division I or II college or university are not eligible for Edgenuity Credit Recovery due to requirements of the NCAA.
