Six Steps to Understanding GPA points and GPA calculations
The Final Grade that you earn for each class is assigned a quality point.
The Quality Points are added and the sum of which is divided by the number of classes that you have taken.
Weighted Quality Points are assigned to Honors and AP courses.
You do not receive Quality Points for High School Credit that you earned in Middle School.
Your transcript has both a Weighted and Unweighted GPA. If you took AP or Honors courses your Weighted GPA is typically higher than your Unweighted GPA. You report your Weighted GPA to colleges/scholarship committees unless they specific ask for your unweighted GPA.
You earn only 1 credit for every class that you pass. The quality point that is assigned to your final grade reflects how well you did in the course.
