Chorus Audition Requirements

Record yourself singing ALL of the following requirements below in 1 video:


-In the past, students would show up without the sheet music. This should allow ALL families, regardless of circumstance to at least be able to see the music and/or lyrics.


-Middle School students are responsible for singing the Major Scale and Arpeggio.

-High School students are responsible for singing the Major Scale and Arpeggio and the Minor Scale and Arpeggio.

3. An age-appropriate Solo. (A selection (one verse and one chorus) from an opera or oratorio, or musical theatre production) or A folk song, art song, patriotic song, or hymn any language.

*Sheet Music for required solo should be made into a PDF and uploaded with your audition.*

Folk Song Examples: Camptown Races, Frere Jacques, London Bridge, etc...

Art Song Examples: Caro mio ben, Tu lo sai, Black is the Color of My Love’s hair, etc...

Patriotic Song Examples: The Star-Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, This Land is Your Land


Reminder!

  1. No middle school sight-singing required.

  2. High School sight-singing is optional. Sight-singing will be utilized to determine ensemble placement. If students want to be placed in an upper ensemble, they should opt to complete the sight-singing portion. However, only students with sight-singing experience should attempt.

  3. SINGING WITH A RECORDING OR SINGING RAP/ROCK/POP/GOSPEL MUSIC IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
