This page is ONLY for families with students who have an audition appointment OR who have already completed auditions.

Thank you for your interest in NWSA!

  • Students who pass auditions in April will be placed when/if openings occur in their grade/major.

  • Student who pass in April will be placed (when/if we have openings) after any student on the lottery wait list.

  • We cannot guarantee that students who audition now will be placed here. However, students will leave for a variety of reasons between now and the start school year, so it is probably worth auditioning. The grades where we currently expect to have the most spaces are 6, 11, 12 and some in 9. Spaces in 8th and 10th will depend on how many students leave the school after the end of the year.

If your child passes their audition you will be notified when/if we have room for them.

Please do not enter a transfer request with CMS unless we instruct you to do so. If you enter and we don't have room, we have to deny your request, and it complicates the process if we have room shortly after.

Thank you for your interest in NWSA!

IMPORTANT: We fill our school with students who pass auditions and who enter one of two lotteries. The last lottery for 21-22 school year has just run and we have received out lottery numbers. We are going full forward with auditions for all grades with emphasis on 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th & 12th. Spaces in 8th and 10th will depend on how many students leave the school after the end of the year.

If we have a lottery wait list for a grade/major, your child would be placed at NWSA only after wait-listed students are placed. We will go by date stamp on the audition request to fill spots for students who pass auditions through March.

We cannot guarantee a spot for any student, but we do think it is probably "worth it" for any interested student to audition at this point (March), because we do lose students if they move or change their minds.

Round 1 Lottery has closed.

Round 2 of the lottery will be open every day between January 25 and February 5, from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Lottery results will be mailed to all families who participated in the lottery within a few weeks after the lottery closes.

Please join us via Zoom to learn more about Northwest School of the Arts! NWSA is an arts magnet school serving 6-12 graders in the CMS school zone. NWSA has the same core curriculum as CMS Schools, but students are able to specialize or "major" in their chosen arts area. A passed audition is required, and students must also enter the CMS School Options lottery. There will be brief presentations to share information about our academics, arts, and the audition process. Following the presentation there will be a Q and A session.

The auditions website is now LIVE and we are now accepting audition requests for the 2021-2022 school year! Next Wednesday, September 16th we will meet with 8th grade students during SEL block to discuss auditions. If your child is absent this day and have any questions, they should email Ms. Davis at We will have information for auditions for the 8th grade for our upcoming Curriculum Night Tuesday, September 22nd. The "take away" message for 8th grade families is that all students must audition during the first lottery period in order to stay at NWSA for 9th grade. Designated 8th grade dates and deadlines can be found on the website under “dates and deadline.” 8th graders new to NWSA this year still must audition, but we will ask that they audition later December in order to have a little more experience at the school. More information will be sent home this week with students. Please visit for more information!

We are VERY low in enrollment in our 6th, 11th & 12th grades. We are opening-up the audition process and will conduct auditions virtually. Visit the homepage for more information on how to request an audition today!
