Students will learn the basics techniques of photography. This will include the use of a manual SLR 35 mm film camera and the darkroom. Concern for the basic principles of design and composition elements will be stressed. Students will be required to do self-evaluations of art works as part of the process of presenting and critiquing.
Photography requires a great deal of self-discipline, careful handling of supplies, equipment and responsible behavior. While working with film and photographs it is necessary for students to use chemicals for processing procedures. Students are instructed carefully on proper and safe handling techniques and usage. Students will have to prove their competency in all darkroom processes and camera knowledge before actual time is allotted for any equipment. Competency will be evaluated by written and oral tests.
