Art
This studio based course is an introductory survey of visual arts through drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media. Emphasis is on the study and use of Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Students will explore the context of art in our worlds and begin to develop critical responses. Students will create and maintain an artistic journal.

This studio based course is a continuation of study in visual arts through techniques and processes in the area of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking and development of problem-solving skills. Students will begin to take a more personal approach in their art. Conducting critiques, evaluating works of art, and examining the economics of art is explored, Students will maintain an artistic journal and learn the process of maintaining a portfolio.
Prerequisite: Complete K-8 education in Visual Arts or demonstrated mastery in Beginning Art
This studio based course is deigned for more in-depth concentrated study of the fine arts. Students will focus on developing their personal voice and aesthetic in creating art. Students will be required to maintain a portfolio of artwork that showcases technical skill and personal style. Students should be self-directed and will actively explore a wide range of techniques and processes. Students will engage in personal and peer; formal and informal; oral and written critiques. Maintaining an artistic journal which includes the artistic journal which includes the student's artistic statement and reflection is required. Students will be expected to exhibit their portfolio.
