CONTEMPORARY CRAFT & DESIGN! This course will explore creative design, imagery, and expression in functional and non-functional art pieces. This course includes both two dimensional and three dimensional designs in ceramics, fibers, recycle design and jewelry design. Emphasis will be placed on craftsmanship, creativity, growth and design concepts involved in producing artwork. The elements and principles of design will be stressed. All students will be required to do self-evaluations and reflections of artwork as part of the process of presenting and critiquing and they will create a digital portfolio of growth and accomplishments.

​By the end of the course the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the skills necessary to interpret and produce functional and non-functional art

  • Demonstrate individual observation, interpretation, and creativity in producing art

  • Evaluate and critique art work

  • Identify and Explore career possibilities in the visual and decorative art

  • Design a portfolio of art work produced and reflective description.
