This is an audition-only string orchestra for students who participate in their CMS high school orchestra program.
Audition Date: Virtual, due November 19, 2021
Sight-Reading Rehearsal: January 20, 2022

Scales and Arpeggios: G and A major 3-octaves; any melodic minor of the student’s choice 3 octaves. Slur 4 notes per bow and arpeggios 3 notes per bow.
Solo:
Viola
Scales and Arpeggios: C and D major 3-octaves; any melodic minor of the student’s choice 3 octaves. Slur 4 notes per bow and arpeggios 3 notes per bow.
Solo:
Cello
Scales and Arpeggios: C and D major 3-octaves; any melodic minor of the student’s choice 3 octaves. Slur 4 notes per bow and arpeggios 3 notes per bow.
Solo:
Bass
Scales and Arpeggios: One octave C Major, Two octave G major; any melodic minor of the student’s choice, two octaves. Slur scales 2 notes per bow and arpeggios separate bows.

This is an auditioned honors group for students who participate in their high school orchestra programs across the western half of the state. Students who are awarded a chair are placed into the Honors or Repertory Symphony Orchestras. Students who are in the Honors Orchestra are eligible to be selected to participate in NC All-State Honors Orchestra in November of the following school year.
