The Health Science Academy at Northwest High School is for students who want to make a real difference by helping others while exploring high-demand healthcare careers. Academy students will build a strong foundation in patient care, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, vital signs, safety and infection control, and professional communication. Integrated coursework prepares students for careers in hospitals, clinics, emergency response, rehabilitation, and long-term care.
Students gain hands-on experience through labs, simulations, and real-world learning that reflects today’s healthcare environments. During their senior year, eligible students may apply to participate in clinical experiences, where they can earn industry-recognized certifications such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). These opportunities allow students to graduate with valuable credentials, confidence, and a clear pathway to post-secondary education or the healthcare workforce.
