MUS621D

Popular Music Performance (MUS621D) provides students with the opportunity to explore various genres, styles, cultural contexts and connections through their music making as individuals and/or in small groups. Students will explore their own musical interests using the creative learner-centered process to achieve goals they have designed while also learning the skills needed within a professional music scene. Students will develop an artist’s statement and action plan to begin working through the creative process. As students progress from MUS521D into MUS621D, their depth of learning continues to grow, with increased focus on specific musical goals that will help establish who they are as an artist. Students are encouraged to make connections with other like-minded musicians/mentors in the community.

Prerequisites: MUS521D or permission from the teacher based on skill and knowledge
