November 25th-29th, 2024
Important Dates:
November 27th - Grade 5 skate 11:40-12:40, parents of grade 5 students are welcome to help skate up and participate in the skate (helmets required for all participants).
Language Arts: Students have written, revised, edited and published their narrative writing in French. They have written numerous stories in English as well. We will be moving on to persuasive texts in both languages. In reading, we will be wrapping up our English Book clubs. Students will be reading books of their choice this month, in preparation to persuade their peers to read the books they have read. We will be combining reading and writing for this month.
Math: Students have worked hard over the past few weeks on writing and solving equations. We have started to learn about equivalent fractions. We will also be practicing our multiplication facts daily.
Integrated Curriculum: We are moving through our unit on the Atlantic provinces slowly. Students have been grouped together to do research on statues and monuments in each province. We will then look at the importance of the statues and how the industries behind the statues are connected to the physical geography. Think of the World's Largest Potato statue in O'Leary and how PEI's iron rich soil is integral to the production of potatoes.
