March 24th - 28th, 2025
What a great day today! Students had their first look at their new school and there were many oohs and aahs to be heard. We had several teachers comment on how respectful our class was while walking through the school. Students received Positive PAWS cards from Mme Bédard today as they had quiet voices and calm bodies and walked in a line and stayed on the right. What a great way to start in the new building. BRAVO 5B!
Writing: Students are finishing up their biographies in informational writing in English. We have been working on researching for information and organizing our facts into paragraphs. In French, we are in the beginning stages of preparing for our Heritage Fair Projects. Please take the time to talk about how your family is unique. Celebrations, culture, traditions, fascinating employment by ancestors (my great-grandfather was a CN train conductor in the Rockies), cuisine, and so forth. I would like students to have an idea or two of what they could possibly prepare for our mini Heritage Fair at the end of next month. Four students will be able to continue on to the Provincial Heritage Fair.
Math: We are wrapping up learning how to multiply 2 digit by 2 digit. Next week we will be working on division (3 digits divided by 1 digit). Please continue to practice multiplication facts up to 9X9.
March 3rd-7th
Students have been in the very capable hands of Mme Sarah for the past three weeks. She has accepted a position at École La-Belle-Cloche in Souris, starting on Monday. We will be sad to see her go as she has been a great addition to our classroom. Her final day with the students will be March 6th.
Thank you to all the parents who have signed up for Parent Teacher Interviews. I look forward to seeing you on Thursday or Friday.

Writing: Students are learning about informational texts in both French and English. Mme Sarah is guiding them in identifying key elements of these texts, such as photos with captions, facts, quotes, and subtopics. They are each creating a magazine spread on a topic they consider themselves experts in. Meanwhile, Mme Bethany is teaching students how to conduct online research and organize their findings into subtopics and structured paragraphs.
