French: Students are continuing their reading and writing with Mme Jamie. They will be researching natural disasters and creating infographics. This ties into our Integrated Curriculum unit, the effects that forces have on structures.
Math: Mme Jamie will be wrapping up equivalent fractions this week. Although her last day is Thursday, she will be preparing a test for Friday.
Candy Grams: The collecting and sorting of candy grams, as well as tallying the money that comes in, can take up to one hour each day. I have set aside 8:40 - 9:30, plus snack time if needed, to complete this task.
On that note : 5A will once again be selling Candy Grams in support of Christmas families. This has become an annual fundraiser for our school. Starting Monday, December 8th, teachers will be selling Candy Grams for $1/each. We will be collecting money all week and delivering Candy Grams on Thursday, December 18th to coincide with our day of Thankful Thursday during Spirit Week.

What we are learning:
French: Students are continuing to learn how to write a plot for our narrative writing. We're using our Book Club books as mentor texts to understand how to incorporate the elements of the plot in our own writing.
Math: Students will be beginning fractions. We will be starting with a review of terms such as denomintator and numerator, as well as exploring equivalent fractions.
English: Students are revising their narrative stories this week. We will be printing them by the end of the week. I am reading The Wild Robot this month.
Next week students in 5A will be managing the Candy Gram sales. Our class will be in charge of handing out blank candy grams, collecting money, and tying candy grams to candy canes. Students will be in charge of counting money each day for the class.es that they are responsible for.
