What are we learning?

French: Students are wrapping up their novel study of La Nouvelle Maitresse with Mme Jamie.  They are also finishing their own book club books. Students have worked on strategies such as making a prediction and then proving if their prediction came true or not. I will be beginning formal reading assessments in French next week.

Math: Students are in the middle of learning about expressions and equations.  We are learning how to identify patterns in word problems and then solving them by creating a expression ( f - 2 ).  Mme Jamie will begin teaching math at the end of next week.  She will be starting with mental math strategies followed by double digit multiplication.  Students have been given multiplication flashcards that we will begin practicing every day. If you wish to have a set at home, please email me and I will get those to you.

Integrated Curriculum:  Students have been grouped together to create a final project about how to stay healthy.  We will set up a health fair for students in lower grades to come through and learn from our students.  Students will be creating interactive projects; board games, interactive posters, or other hands on activities.
