Once a year, a select group of 7th & 8th grade students from each LPS middle school get together during a school day to rehearse music with a guest conductor. That evening, the combined students perform the music they’ve rehearsed for parents and teachers.
Making music with so many other talented students from across the district is amazing experience, and to be chosen for this elite group of singers is an honor. Please consider auditioning!
In order to participate in this event, students must be able to:
Commit to attending both the rehearsal and concert.
Commit to attending at least 6 of 9 rehearsals throughout January.
Commit to practicing the music at home (via links on Google Classroom).
Be an excellent representative of Moore Middle School.
Have a great attitude and a love of singing!
Rehearsals are held at one of the high schools during the school day. Students will be bussed from Moore to the high school and back.
The Festival Concert is at 7:00pm that evening. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the concert.
If you have any questions regarding this event, please contact Ms. Lambert.
The Moore Solo & Ensemble Recital Night is an opportunity for Moore students to gain more experience performing in a non-ensemble setting. The primary purpose of this event is to allow students a chance to get some feedback on their voice & musicianship from a professional voice coach.
Recital Night takes place in mid-late April each year. This event takes a considerable amount of preparation; it is possible that a student may sign up and not be selected to perform if they are underprepared.
Sometime mid-to-late January, Miss Lambert will post a sign-up sheet outside the vocal music room (Room 106). A message will also be included in morning announcements/the Moore Messenger.
Students may sign up in any sort of vocal configuration, from one person (solo) to 15 people (small ensemble). Students may sign up for a maximum of TWO different events (for example: a solo and a trio).
So that students may receive the most helpful feedback from judges, song choice is limited to the following types of repertoire:
Folk
Classical
Choral (great for groups!)
Musical Theatre
Hymns/Spirituals
Sign up!
Talk to Ms. Lambert or your private voice teacher about a song-choice. Get the music. Make sure you have an original copy (not a photocopy).
Start practicing that song. Work at home, schedule time with Ms. Lambert, work with your private teacher, etc. It is YOUR job to learn the music!
Be memorized and ready to sing with accompaniment only by the first week of April.
Perform your piece for Ms. Lambert and other interested students.
Go show off your hard work at Recital Night.
