Music Technology:
This course is designed to provide students the opportunities to explore digital sound technology, notation software and multimedia applications. Music Technology fosters a learning environment which includes musical exploration, creativity, sharing, collaboration and appreciation, while building on personal attributes including positive relationships, time management, and accountability.

Student opportunity to pursue individual musical goals that pertain to relevant coursework.
Coursework: Much of the work you will do in class is independent; however, there will be opportunities for collaboration! The beginning of the semester will be focused on smaller assignments and projects focused on navigating you through the music making process and broadening your understanding of music and musical context. As the semester progresses, you will have the opportunity to create larger works, both individually and with members of our learning community. Ample class time will be provided for the purpose of completing assignments. In rare instances you may need to complete class work outside of class; however, if you use your time productively you will have plenty of time to complete everything in class.
Location: Our class will meet in room 132. On occasion, we may transition to the Media Center for use of the green screen room. When this occurs, we will always meet in room 132 first. Please be prepared to move seats as our set up may change depending on the unit and projects. Please, always save data to your LPS google drive! Do not save data to the desktop. If you choose to save to the desktop your work may or may not be there the next day.

GRADING
Grades: Your grade will be earned on the quality of your projects, assignments, proficiencies, and written responses. Projects, assignments, and proficiencies are scored for points and will always have attached rubrics or feedback. If you have questions about how your work is being graded, please ask. Projects and assignments with no attached rubric will be graded on completion, meaning grades will be entered as a “yes,” or “no” in Synergy. Grades for written responses will be based on the quality of thought put into the response. I will always tell you what sort of answer I am looking for. It is always best to be more thorough. If you have answered the prompt fully and with thoughtful words expect to earn all of the points. I encourage you to go above and beyond with your responses!
Grading percentage breakdown: 80%-Summative, 20%-Formative.
Grade Scale: 90-100= A, 80-89= B, 70-79= C, 60-69= D, 59 and below=F
Understanding grades on Synergy:
(0) - If you receive a "0," it's because you haven't turned in your work and the assignments was graded and inputted. You will likely still be able to turn in the missing work, but need to speak with the teacher first.
(Blank) - If a score is blank it means the project has not been graded yet
(M) - Assignment is missing and needs to be turned in.
(e) - Assignment has been excused, usually with a written statement as to why.
LATE WORK
Late Readings/Discussion Boards- Try your best not to get behind on these as they cannot be made once we discussion the reading content in class (which is usually very shortly after the reading has been assigned. If you miss this opportunity, you will be provided 48 hours to complete a prompt (question) from the reading in which to respond with a one-two paragraph reply. Beyond that- points will not be issued as we will have moved on with new material in class.
Late Projects-
It is understandable if a couple additional days are needed to complete some of the larger projects. You must make this request via email ahead of time so an agreeable plan can be created between teacher and student.
Late Worksheets-
Again, try to get them completed right away, but if you need an extra day, that should not be a problem.
*As you can tell, there is some flexibility in this course. However, you must not take advantage of that by completing everything late. The flexibility is meant to support you in the very OCCASIONAL times it is needed. It should NOT be the norm to turn in your assignments late.
Turning in a Late Assignment: In order to get credit for the assignment, you must submit the assignment and then email Ms.Schnacker (eschnack@lps.org) that you have completed and turned in the assignment.
Re-work: If you are unhappy with an earned grade please touch base with your instructor. We can work out a plan for you to earn a better grade. We want you to feel good about the score you earn.

Attendance:
Tardy = not in class when the tardy bell rings.
Unexcused Tardy = no pass or pass stating “Not Excused”
Excused Tardy = pass stating student excused, does not count against a student for due process purposes and is not recorded in synergy.
Truancy = unexcused absence from a class.
Tardies = LNE school policy
If you miss a class it is your responsibility to take care of any missed instruction/work.
If you have additional questions about making up work please speak to your instructor and we will devise a plan that is fair for both parties.
Food/Drink Procedures
The equipment that we have must be taken care of and treated with care so that it lasts for many more years. Other than water, there will be no food or drink allowed in the labs or classrooms. “Leave it better than you found it.”
Cell Phone Procedure:
The LPS cell phone policy lists classrooms as a RED ZONE, meaning there is not cell phone use. If you are on your phone during class, it will be taken away for the remainder of the class. There will be no warning.
